The Spanish and Portuguese Graduate Student Association (SPGSA) at the University of New Mexico is announcing the annual conference Querencias . This meeting aims to explore the relationship between land and discourse. How are ideologies distributed across space? How are language, discourse, and land connected? How do symbolic spaces and social dynamics intersect? Querencias 22: Conexiones con la tierra will explore these questions as well as the intersections of language, discourse, culture, and conceptualizations of space within the Hispanic and Lusophone world. We welcome abstracts for presentations and themed panels in English, Portuguese, or Spanish from these interdisciplinary fields of study: Hispanic and Lusophone literatures and cultural studies, Hispanic and Lusophone linguistics, and Southwest and Latin American studies.
